Description: You call upon the ancestors to watch over the lives of your companions.   Choose up to:   six living creatures   within range.   A faint ancestral spirit accompanies each target for the duration.   The first time during the spell's duration that damage would reduce a protected creature to:   0 hit points   the ancestral spirit intervenes before the damage is resolved.   The creature is not reduced to 0 hit points.   Instead:   It remains at 1 hit point.   Any remaining damage from that triggering instance is ignored.   Ancestral Ward immediately ends on that creature.   A creature whose Ancestral Ward has triggered cannot benefit from Ancestral Ward again until it finishes a:   long rest   Ancestral Ward does not protect against:   Death caused without hit point damage.   A soul being destroyed or consumed.   Effects that explicitly prevent resurrection or spiritual intervention.   Willing self-sacrifice such as Divine Intervention.   The spell ends early on a creature if it dies from another cause.
