The Day the Earth Wept: the night the Sorrow War began
For years, the Elemental Phalanx searched for the Child, the youngest Primordial in Caemothas. Then small elementals began vanishing too.
This is the story of how they found it, deep beneath the mountains of the Elysium Empire, and why the oldest powers in the world turned on the brightest civilization it had ever known.
He nudged it gently, the way he used to when it slept too long and missed a sunrise it had asked him to wake it for.
Nothing
My goal was to write elemental gods who grieve like a family, and to make readers feel the loss of a being that was never mortal at all. It's the origin point for the Sorrow War, the conflict that eventually births the planes of Metal, Wood, and Spirit in my world.
I'd love to hear what lands and what doesn't, especially whether the Primordials each feel distinct in how they grieve.
Content note: the death of a young being, and grief.
