Update: I have tried viewing the articles in microsoft edge, and the issue persists, so it's not firefox-specific.   Having gone through more articles, I no longer thing it's length - however, it may be connected to the number of historic events linked to an article, as it's mainly main characters and major organisations/locations affected, and the issue appeared at the same time as history events started appearing below the body text of an article a few days ago.

Update 2: it occurred to me I should check if other worlds of mine have the same issue, and they don't, and they also don't have historical entries appearing below articles - I'd assumed this was a deliberate layout change, but given this, it seems like that might be part of the same bug as the strange overlay, since they appeared at the same time.

It has been 3 months without this seemingly even being looked at by the team, never mind fixed - could someone please respond to at least let me know this is in the queue to be looked at? I understand it's not high priority as it seems like it's only affecting me, but it's making the presentation view completely unusable for my world.

Hi thanks for getting back to me!   Screenshots taken today, showing the issue:

This is how it appears when my cursor is above the shaded area. And this is how it appears when my cursor is over the shaded area.   That little letterbox of unaffected screen does not scroll with me - if I scroll down below it then the entire screen has that overlay, which seems to me like it must something going wrong with the article itself, and not an issue with how the browser is displaying it.     Additionally, all affected articles have this weird timeline section below them. I have not clicked on timeline to open this, it is always present at the bottom of the article. Bizarrely, these events are not ones linked to this article, and the affected articles have different historic events appearing there, and different numbers of them, but these events are persistant and do not change when closing and reopening the page, so they're not being randomly generated. The Lahey family page used for those screenshots always has the same three events appearing.   I have checked and this is not affecting any of my other worlds, so I don't see how it can be an issue on my end - if it was an antivirus or similar causing it, it would affect all worlds, not just this one. Additionally, I'm literally using a different computer now than the one I had when I first opened this bug report, and the issue persists, just as it does across different browsers.   While the overlay is present, I am unable to click any buttons or links - having tried carely possitioning things so I can click buttons/links even though I can't see them, nothing happens, so this overlay is stopped interactions with the page, rather than only being a visual glitch.

Got my partner to open the same links provided to you to check replicability - the bug is present for him exactly as described on both Linux PC using chrome, firefox, or Edge, and also on an android phone. The historic events at the bottom are also the same. Only systems we're unable to check is macbook or iphone as we don't own any, but it's replicable on anything else.   We don't have a piehole or anything of the kind which would affect all machines on our wifi, and he has confirmed turning on adblock in firefox makes no difference, and has no plug-ins in either chrome or edge.

Hi, it's now been a year with no actual response: could you at least let me know you're looking at this? I know you're a small team, but 12 months to respond to a bug report for a paid service is pretty unreasonable! The problem has not magically gone away (I am now using a different computer than when I first reported the bug, and it is still present), meaning presentation mode is still completely unusable for my world.

This looks like a CSS issue, though I don't see that there's any presentation styling affecting the container. It is very odd that the issue is tied to the length of the article, but the footer is somehow being removed from the normal flow and is positioned at the top of the page with its normal margin.

I say all this because I'm investigating it, not because I think there's anything that you did wrong. I have a potential fix I am testing, but I need to ensure it won't impact all other articles on WA.

Can you please send me a link to a couple of your articles where this bug is not present? I need to test some at the world level, and then I can use other user's public articles (long and short) to ensure my potential solution doesn't impact anything else.

Just to update, I am still looking into this issue. I have revised my original attempted fix and am testing it against other articles/worlds/users to ensure it doesn't have an effect there.
