Unable to format text of a link in Plutarch

I'm unable to make the text of a link italic or bold in Plutarch. For instance, when referencing the title of a book my style guide calls for that title to be italic. In Plutarch, I can either make the text italic or make it a link but not both. I've observed the behavior in both Safari and Firefox on macOS 26.4.1 (and in versions before this).

Steps to Reproduce

Create a link in Plutarch
Highlight the text and press CMD+I to format it as italic.
Note that the text turns italic in the editor, BUT
Click on "View in World" and note that the italic formatting is now gone.
