Ahmagerd, I just read your story Testing Features, and I was instantly impressed by it! Each line felt like watching an epic movie unfold, I could almost visualize it jumping off the page! I offer questionable and ambiguous opinions if you'd just step over to this third party chat site where I can peddle equally questionable and ambiguous "services"! I loved the scene where Test interacts with Test and Test's courage really shines through. Is Test a symbol for something and what do you have planned for Test because I have some ideas of my own I'd like to share about Test! Plz chat ktthx!!!
Lol oh yeah! Total! My handle is @notg0nnahapp!n!
I've asked before in the FFN thread why don't authors just use bait articles with like Lorem Ipsum to troll bots but apparently that's against TOS. Though I noticed WA is using Cloudflare recently I wonder if there was a DDOS attack recently or if its precaution against bots. FFN's used captchas and cloudflare before but bots are still an issue I think because a human handler operates them they're not fully unmanned.
Is that against TOS on WA? That would be a great bait! Like honey to a fly. It's possible there might have been another attack, but, I suspect that it would be for the bots. I guess they are targeting the fully automated ones first, then they would be attacking the semi-automatous next. But, then again, if they wised up, it would be back to being just as difficult to catch them.
I think it applies to competitive events for obvious reasons but thats prob why they're hitting manuscripts because they generally tend to be labors of love and are worked on during off seasons. I guess an exception would be the Novelember event but even that is basically a participation trophy.
You really aren't wrong about that being a popularity contest, there is a reason I never participate in it. Same with WorldEmber and WAWA. I don't see a problem with setting bait for bots like that. Especially when I can put warnings like I do in my manuscripts now, they still respond to it. So I think it should be fair game as long as you make it obvious to an actual person that it is bait.
Eeeeeyyyyyyy a new scammer! redflags for artoftheart left a comment on one of my chapters which smells awfully baity. generic praise followed by a generic question I'd copy paste it but WA doesnt' allow that for some reason. I'm fairly certain if I respond it'll try leading me off the site. checked the site and no works.
Ha! I just had one of those today too, this one was weirdly personal. DeloresLostInk left this: "I love how warm and kind your energy is it makes talking to you feel so easy. How has your day been so far?" Like what? I've never talked to you before. Then when I asked how they came to that conclusion, they switched right away to the whole, I have ideas that I'm not comfortable talking about here. Yeah, get out. They didn't read my warning at the top of every Chapter now, instantly reported. They are getting weird. Are that this bad on the other site you use?
Yes!!!! They are terrrrible! Unless you shut them down they are very persistent and no matter how many times they get reported and banned they just keep making more and more accounts! Some even got weird making legal threats or claiming-and I'm not making this up-that the government was going to use AI to read your fanfic on your hardrive using Windows 11 and report you if you had any content they didn't like. Well the jokes on them because I don't use Microslop 11 XD
Lol what a baseless threat. I've been wanting to move out of the Windows ecosystem for a while now, just want to get a new computer first. Something that hasn't had windows preinstalled on it at all.
Is deleting comments on manuscripts a higher rank only feature? I can't delete this scammer's comment it gives me an error message c101
No, I've brought this up to WA before. Manuscripts works on a different system than the rest of the site (why, idk...) The only ones that can remove it is an admin, so Undo. You have to make a report in the report etiquette form. They fast tracked it now, so you don't have to fill out the entire form, just paste the address for them to look at. And then they remove the comment. Why I can remove comments on the annoying part of the site, but not manuscripts, idk.
