The target must make a Constitution saving throw.
On a failed save, it takes:

If the target is reduced to 0 hit points before the start of your next turn, you regain:
1 expended Soul Shard
You cannot regain more than one Soul Shard from Drain Soul per round.
Execute
If the target is below one-quarter of its maximum hit points when you cast Drain Soul, the damage die becomes:
