You call down a burning rain of demonic fire over a point within range.   Choose a 20-foot-radius area centered on that point.   When you cast the spell, and at the start of each of your turns while you maintain concentration, hostile creatures of your choice within the area must make a Dexterity saving throw.   On a failed save, a creature takes:   3d6 Fire damage   On a successful save, it takes half as much damage.   The area is lightly obscured by smoke, flame, and falling embers for the duration.   The spell’s area becomes difficult terrain for the duration.
At higher levels: When cast using a spell slot of 5th level, the damage increases to:   4d6 Fire damage
